Poverty, sickness, corruption, abuse, idolatry, evil, pride, hypocrisy. Something is desperately wrong with our world. Something is wrong with us. We long for radical transformation in us and the world around us. Is change like this possible? What would it take?
A revolution.
The movement began with just one. In Jesus’ day, the people of Israel sought a leader to bring change through political and military power. They wanted to make Jesus king. But His purposes were deeper, broader, eternal. He came to seek and save the lost, to establish His eternal kingdom His way.
Jesus turned the world upside down. He touched lepers, dined with sinners, calmed the sea, raised the dead, warned the wealthy, rebuked the religious and even conquered death.
He spoke of a world where sin was exchanged for righteousness, captives were set free, death had lost its sting, and forgiveness and love flowed deeply and freely. A world changed by people who had been radically transformed from the inside out. People just like you and me.
Revolution is not something you simply put into your schedule. A true revolution is a radical upheaval, a transformation that sets a new, uncharted path for living. If our hearts — our very selves — are saved and transformed by Jesus Christ, what changes? Purpose? Relationships? Desires? Worship? Calling? Eternity?
